Yorshis as friends and family call him is one of the most compassionate, caring, and happy young man who unfortunately was born a preemie. Immaturity of the lungs announced his welcoming into this world as a blue baby. Doctors declared that there was not much more to do. A mother’s strong hold and immense faith brought Yorshis back to life. At barely 6 yrs. of age again he was faced with a near death sentence; Yorshis contracted a severe Shigella Infection. As if those two adversities were not enough to take a toll on his family he was diagnosed with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), after passing out while attending church with his mother. Doctors sadly found 5 holes in his little heart. Another miraculous survival helped his family; friends and teachers realized that Yorshis was placed on earth for a greater cause. His tribulations have been many. Born under the name George Granda, and barely 23 years old “ Yorshis” an immigrant from Cuba, who was brought to West Palm Beach, FL as a first political asylee in the county is now living as he did most of his childhood.... undiagnosed ( now well into his adulthood) with Tourette Syndrome. He wants to be the first of his family to go to college, and be able to establish secure employment without being chastised and ridiculed. As his former Adult Education English Teacher I have seen Yorshis struggle at times learning English as his second language. Your small contribution/donation can help Yorshis dream come true. Securing employment has been almost impossible; however slowly and surely he has been building his self-esteem almost courageously, as well as acquiring his oral/auditory English skills. He wants to go to the local community college, and perhaps with your kind donations, we can help Yorshis despite his entire shortcoming to be the first to graduate from college and empower others that may be suffering from similar adversities. Kindly, Yorshis' former Adult Education Teacher
