HOPE FOR HEROISM's Fundraiser:

Yossi Kramer NY Marathon

One hundred thousand for One hundred thousand percent of sacrifice.

Yossi Kramer is 30 years old and lives in Ramat Gan, Israel. When Yossi turned 18 years old, it was time for him to serve his country in the Israeli Army. It was important to Yossi to join a combat unit and he was inducted into the Givati Brigade. Yossi excelled in his service and received a certificate of excellence from his division commander for his bravery. He was also chosen for the prestigious position of being the liaison and radio man for his commander.

During a 2002 mission in Gaza, his platoon was ambushed by terrorists and Yossi's beloved commander was killed before his eyes. Yossi was badly injured by shrapnel from a grenade and later shot in the leg as his platoon fought to stop the terrorists. One of Yossi's officers was able to finally stop the attack. But the severely wounded included Yossi, and they were evacuated to Barzilai Hospital.

Before his injury, Yossi discovered a natural love and ability to run. This was one of the reasons he was chosen to be the liaison for his commander. One of the most difficult parts of coming to terms with being injured as a young soldier is facing the possibility that he may have to give up on his dreams.

Hope for Heroism is helping our injured soldiers reclaim their lives and their dreams, even if those dreams don't look exactly as they did before.

Two years ago, Yossi became a member of Hope for Heroism. At about this time, Yossi started running again. Not just running, but training with the kind of dedication and determination of a Givati soldier. During this time a new dream was born for Yossi- to run the New York City Marathon.

On November 23rd, Yossi will have a chance to live his dream. But Yossi's dream is not just for himself. He wants to run this marathon and represent his 240 brothers in Hope for Heroism in Israel, some of whom will never be able to run on their feet again.

Yossi has a goal of raising funds that will enable his brothers to participate in a host of sports programs, irregardless of their disabilities. Whether it is cycling with feet or hands, swimming with legs or prosthetics, these sports programs will allow these soldiers to realize their dreams.

Please join our campaign - for Yossi fulfill his dream of running the New York Marathon, and to raise $100,000 to help his Brothers fulfill their dreams too.
