Think of all those who are waiting for a life saving organ as you run. See more
Terry Keisic wrote -Dear Supportive Friends & Family, On May 5/6, 2012, we will be running 199 miles through 36 cities and across the Golden Gate Bridge on “Team Yo…TAXI” made-up of 12 athletes during the largest event in the world promoting organ donation. Each of us will run three separate legs in rotation. The 36 legs through 36 cities are anywhere from 3.0 to 8.9 miles...From Calistoga in Napa Valley to Sonoma to Marin, through Sausalito, across the Golden Gate Bridge under a full moon, through San Francisco to Palo Alto and through Silicon Valley to the beach in Santa Cruz. During The Relay, known as California's Longest Party, passing the baton to the next team member will symbolize the transfer of an organ from donor to recipient. 12 athletes coming together on a journey of the heart. We come from many different backgrounds, cities and different levels of experience in running. For this one moment in time, we will train together; strengthening our bodies, minds and spirits for the experience of a lifetime. Not only are we coming together in this commitment to enhance our own individual health and well-being but we are all working to save the lives of others who need our help desperately. It will take strength, strategy and endurance to reach the finish line. It will take cooperation, sensitivity and understanding to travel many miles with sweaty bodies. Conquer as a team what few dare to face alone. The Relay is a unique adventure uniting athletes, communities and volunteers in a celebration of life, running and teamwork. Thank you for supporting us on our little run from Calistoga to Santa Cruz! And a special thanks on behalf of each organ recipient and their grateful families. Pledge your support for 100,000 Americans (including 2,500 children) waiting for organs. 18 die each day before a donor is found. Since communicating a desire to donate will allow grieving relatives to make an informed decision, ORU encourages family discussions, not about death, but about offering a life saving gift. Thanks in advance for your support of 98,000 Americans waiting for organ transplants. ...and Thank you for visiting our fundraising page! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
