The story of domestic violence is the story of 1 in 4 women during her lifetime. All too often, these women remain in their situation as they have nowhere to turn. Not only are they fearful of the consequences of leaving, but they do not have the financial resources available to leave.
The YWCA of Greater Memphis is here to support these women and their children. The victims of domestic violence who need a place to turn find safe housing and access to counseling, job training and childcare when they come to our shelter. We service over 250 women and their children each year as the only emergency housing shelter for victims of domestic violence in Memphis.
We need your support to continue providing services to these women and their children who are fighting so bravely to escape their circumstances.
Any amount will go directly to these victims to meet their needs as they transition to their next stage in life.
Below are just a few examples of how the funds raised will be used to support those served by the shelter:
$11.00 will buy a new set of dinnerware
$15.00 will buy a new set of sheets
$25.00 will buy a new set of towels
$500.00 will provide a month of secunity monitoring
$1,000.00 will provide a new computer for use by students
$2,500.00 will provide funds for building maintenance
$5,000.00 will provide a much needed update to the kitchen equipment
$10,000.00 will allow for an upgrade to the security gate
$30,000.00 will provide a part-time trauma counselor
