BENEFITING: YWCA Rock County
EVENT DATE: Oct 02, 2017
YWCA Rock County is celebrating it's 95th Anniversary this year. Founded in 1922, YWCA Rock County has been serving the needs of the Rock County community, and beyond, in whatever capacity that might be needed. YWCA Rock County's "Alternatives to Violence Program" provides a 33 bed shelter that protects Moms and their children from their abuser. Advocacy for both the Mom and the child is provided as well as legal assistance, support groups and products such as diapers, wipes, personal hygiene, and more. YWCA Rock County's "Transitions for Women Program" and "Empowerment Center" offers women the opportunity to rebuild their lives and work toward financial independence while living in one of the 11 apartments located in the Historic Jeffris Flats in downtown Janesville Wisconsin. Advocacy and support groups are provided, as well as educational support, resume writing, interview skills and job search assistance. Women who complete the Transition Program become eligible for Section 8 Housing in Janesville, Wisconsin. YWCA Rock County is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Contributions to YWCA Rock County by way of the Allstate Foundation Purple Purse Challenge will support the programs designed to hopefully bring an end to domestic violence.
