EVENT DATE: Sep 08, 2016
With your help, we have efforts of raising $7,500 in 75 days! We've already received a $1,000 donation! Young Women’s Leadership is an advocacy skill-building program designed to empower young women to advocate for issues that affect their lives and communities. Young Women’s Leadership provides tools, support, and mentoring to help young women gain confidence, see their self-worth, and speak out on issues that matter to them. The program provides a brave space for conversations between young women on issues that affect their daily lives like body image, media, social media, race, gender, sexual health and sexuality, and healthy relationships. Additionally, the program teaches young women how to advocate for themselves and their community to policy makers and reinforces that they have the power to make change. The young women participating are 6th to 8th grade, with the option of sites adding a high school group. We have a host of activities planned for the young women in the program. • State Capital Day • College Day • Scholarships for young women to start an advocacy project in their community • Advocacy Luncheon • Stipends for collegiate women to become facilitators within the program. This past year we partnered with our awesome community partners - Second Baptist Church of Kalamazoo, MI & the Douglass Center Association and we're excited to add St. Luke's to this years partner list!
