The Young Harmonies of Houston is a group of young singers ages 9-16 from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The choral group gives these talented youth outlets for artistic expression and development. YHH youth BRING THE JOY OF MUSIC TO THE WORLD in diverse venues that include festivals, concerts, restaurants, museums, and churches.
Founded in 2008 by Fayetta Allen, YHH teaches musicianship, music history and performance skills in addition to building self-esteem and confidence in these youngsters. This year, we plan to offer free concerts and sing-along-opportunities to residents of shelters, hospitals, and nursing homes. We will use professional musicians to accompany the singers, i.e. drummer, bassist and keyboardist. We will perform up beat pop, classical, and gospel music.
The concert will be free of charge and will give the audience opportunities to interact with the choir in song and movement. . We need monies to pay for the musicians as well as to purchase sound equipment and a keyboard.
