We are getting closer......
March 14, 2016
Today we have a story to tell. It is not a reel story but a real one. When we started SAATH, our clear intention was to make a difference, number not being the prime focus. We work with limited people as per the resources we are able to gather. We started Hakuna Matata program to support children living with/affected by HIV and AIDS. we mainly focus on kids. But time and again we have extended our support to the parents group as well. We try to go beyond our jurisdiction as we do not very much like to limit ourselves and confine to “official” manifestation. And this time it concerns one of the parent. She is a beautiful lady, does not talk a lot but has a lot to say. Her whole life she single handedly raised her daughter who is almost 15. She has worked very hard to raise her and support the family. She worked as wood carver which requires lot of hard work. Over the years she has problem with her eyesight, have exertion headaches, fatigue and you name it. “Now I am done, I cannot do things even if I want to” she says with a shallow smile. And today we do not want to confine and ridicule ourselves by saying this is not OUR JOB. It is our job, it could be yours too. We are raising some funds to help her in cash or kind. Living with HIV has not been easy for her, but she did not give up so easily, she tried her best. Today all we can do is make a small effort and let her know that “ we got your back” …. Meanwhile we are working for Sustainable Support for a long run.
