Please support me as I raise funds for Just 4 People, Inc. Every year there are youth across the nation who would love to play organized sports, but cannot afford financially to do so. Many of these youth come from low income families, single family homes, and even homeless shelters. Travel team parents spend an average of $2,266 on their child's sports participation.
This summer Just 4 People is sponsoring the Greater 69th Street Wildcats Athletic Association to make a difference in the lives of preteen and teenage boys in the Philadelphia area. Just 4 People will provide scholarships to cover registration fees for the 2016 season. Summer is the time for kids to be kids. It seems like the long days and warm sun make June, July, and August the perfect backdrop for fun times.
Unfortunately for some youth, summer isn’t just a carefree time to spend with friends. In Philly and some surrounding areas, summer can also mean nothing to do and less adult supervision. Pair these two ingredients with fractured neighborhoods and unspent teenage energy, and it is easy to see a recipe for youth vulnerability.
But of course, the perils of a neighborhood can be overcome. Summer time sports give young adults something positive to focus on, while building character, camaraderie, and opportunity to receive mentoring. In fact, youth who participate in sports are more likely to stay out of trouble, more likely to graduate on time, and more likely to continue their education.
This strikes close to home with Just 4 People because three of our four founding members played in youth leagues and went on to play at the collegiate level. But it’s not just a sense of nostalgia for Just 4 People –creating summer sport opportunities for youth empower the entire community by strengthening, empowering, and refocusing the energies of our youth during their most formative years. If ever there was a season to invest into someone, it is when they are most adventurous and most curious. It is now – as they transition into adulthood.
So join us in empowering an entire community by standing behind the Greater 69th Street Wildcats Athletic Association. Every donation, no matter how small, goes a long way in building up our youth. All donations are tax deductible.
