2010 is the International Year of Biodiversity, but the rate of threats to biological diversity are still increasing. Three fearless SustainUS volunteers are heading to the 2010 UN Convention on Biological Diversity as official delegates, and we are raising funds for the trip to Nagoya, Japan this October.
SustainUS - a for-youth, by-youth organization - has already had tremendous success in galvanizing support for and participation in international negotiations on climate, women's, and sustainable development issues. We would like to start making that same impact on biological diversity issues.
We are forming a small delegation of young people to participate in the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity 10th Conference of the Parties in Nagoya, Japan, from October 18-29, 2010. As part of the Agents of Change program in the youth-run organization called SustainUS, we will be part of an official delegation representing the United States in negotiations at an international level. We will develop policy recommendations and collaborate with other U.S. and international youth participants. Together, the delegation of volunteers will pave the way for representation of U.S. Youth at future Biological Diversity policy negotiations.
Please help support me and my delegation to get to Japan this October and represent the U.S. Youth voice on this vital issue.
