BENEFITING: YouthBuild USA, Inc.

Ryan Mitchell

Our Story:

YouthBuild programs help disadvantaged young people (ages 16-24) to develop construction skills, start careers and become leaders in their community and in their country. While developing these skills, they create and rehabilitate buildings that benefit their communities, such as schools, community centers and units of affordable housing. There are 260 YouthBuild Programs in the United States, currently serving more than 10,000 young people. Internationally, YouthBuild programs are active in 15 other countries.

YouthBuild USA supports YouthBuild programs across the country. It lobbies the US Department of Labor to reserve millions of dollars that YouthBuild programs can seek out through a competitive application process. YouthBuild USA provides training sessions, information on best-practices, and educational and online resources to these programs. It collaborates with the YouthBuild USA Affiliate Network to gather data on YouthBuild programs and to set standards for them to meet.

Although YouthBuild USA lobbies the Department of Labor to allocate millions of dollars to YouthBuild programs, the organizations does not, nor can it, receive any of those funds itself.

That is where you come in.

By giving to YouthBuild USA, you make funds that are 20 times the size of your initial donation available to YouthBuild programs nationwide. A contribution of $100 makes $20,000 available to YouthBuild programs, enough to pay for a YouthBuild student’s year-long participation in a program.
