I am a military officer about to finish up my service (Yes retire! Woo hoo!). I came to the path of "What now?" and things started to make sense for my journey. Growing up, I have been part of team sports; choirs; and small business youth groups. As an adult I have coached soccer for young beginning players up thru college level teams; been a youth summer camp staffer for YMCA and others; supported youth ministry teams on trips; and even participated in other fundraisers for other groups that I don't directly participate in - Bands, Arts, etc. I even played the part of a college alumni director for about a minute. Fundraising is a staple for all of those activities.
This CrowdRise fundraiser will help me build out the rest of my YouthGivers.com site to allow subscribers to patronage brick and mortar businesses - like resturants and mom & pop shops that don't have an internet presence - and they in turn will provide a micro-donation back through my network where over 66% of all donations go to the Youth Groups that are registered and listed with YouthGivers.com. The site has just been created (June 2015) and currently has an online store where Youth Groups can create an online "rummage sale" and the development of an online shopping network is currently underway and will be ready by August. Subscribers can support multiple youth groups - other cause based/online shopping sites allow only one cause per member. Micro-Donations are linked to subscriber shopping habits and then divided up amongst all youth groups that the individual supports.
The funds associated with this CrowdRise ask will help build a phone app to search for local particpating businesses (and other cool features) and allow YouthGivers to register bank cards to ease the recording of the transactions from the business to subscriber and then get the micro-donations to the supported youth groups. It will also go to marketing to open up and scale this for the whole USA to use the network. My vision - as YouthGivers gains speed - is to increase the amount of micro-donations that flow through YouthGivers.com from 66% or more to 80% or more. I want to change the way POCKET CHANGE is used for youth groups all over the USA. Oh, and not only will youth groups benefit - mom & pop shops will get more face to face business and be able to compete with internet based shops - subscribers will have local businesses (all over the USA) that will support their favorite youth groups in their own town (that means, a youth group in Springfield, MO can receive a micro-donation from a participating business in Boca Raton, FL when a subscriber is on vacation!) and finally, communities can begin to see a positive influence of youth groups in their communities just because they go to coffee at Ma's Coffee Cart and Ma puts a nickel back to a youth group on every cup of Joe!
So, will you help a soon-to-retire Veteran build a community changing network? I served you without knowing who you are, and have felt the appreciation from many - can you now support me in serving thousands of youth groups in one act of goodwill? I then GET to serve (again) so many others and get see the change happening!
Peace to you!
