Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels has been fortunate enough to acquire a large 1400 sq ft space in the building that our office is located in. We hope to turn the storage space into a Senior person care pantry & food pantry to serve the homebound Seniors and all Seniors in Eastern Washtenaw
County. The space while spacious needs many updates before we can stock the shelves with personal care items.
In order to bring the storage space up to code YMOW needs to update wiring, electrical, level the flooring, put down new flooring and install storage bins and racks. The total cost to update the space is around $20,000 - $30,000. Once the space is updated we hope to stock the shelves thanks to
donations from the community and also to spend between $5,000 - $10,000 to supplement the opening of the space for items such as wheelchairs, appliances for those with arthritis, heating pads, sits chairs, chair rails, bathtub chairs, adult diapers, testing strips, reading glasses, etc.
The YMOW Personal care pantry will allow our organization to add to our mission of delivering more than a meal. By adding the pantry Ypsilanti Meals on Wheels will be serving an unmet need in the community that needs the support of those who our champions of supporting homebound Seniors independence to live happy, healthy and independently.
