YWCA Dayton is Dayton’s oldest women’s organization, supporting women in need to be safe and independent since 1870. Its work to eliminate domestic violence began in the late 1880s with a petition to the Ohio General Assembly asking for “better legal protection for women against assault.” In 1977, its Battered Woman Project was among the first emergency shelters established for victims of domestic violence in the United States.
Today, YWCA Dayton operates the only domestic violence shelters in Montgomery and Preble Counties and both counties’ only 24-hour crisis hotline. Shelter services include: emergency shelter; crisis intervention; case management; food, clothing and personal care items; housing support; support and educational groups; individual advocacy; goal planning; safety planning; and follow-up and referrals.
Your support will ensure a safe and secure future for hundreds of women and children across the Miami Valley.
