BENEFITING: YWCA El Paso del Norte Region
The #1 reason that women and children are homeless is because they have experienced domestic violence. Statistics show that one in four women experience some form of domestic violence in their lifetime. And the #1 reason they can't "just leave" is because they're being abused financially. The YWCA El Paso del Norte Region is focused on eliminating racism and empowering women; as the largest YWCA in the country, one of our special programs is the Sara McKnight Transitional Living Center (TLC) for women and children experiencing homelessness; a program where women and their children receive housing, counseling, resources and the opportunity to achieve self-sufficiency and economic stability. Other YWCA programs that benefit these families include our Economic Empowerment division and our Workforce Development Initiative, LIFT (Learn Inspire Focus Train), which provides vocational training for free. Purple Purse is a wonderful program developed by Allstate to raise awareness about the importance and extent of domestic violence. Your donation truly matters. There are exciting competitions that will be coming up with our Purple Purse Campaign. Please share our online fundraiser with all your social media friends. We will be featuring special auctions and awards. If you want to be a leader of a team competing for these, please contact Kathy Cox, Chief Empowerment Administrator, at the YWCA El Paso del Norte Region at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 915-519-0034. Be a hero! Let's raise awareness about the perils of domestic violence, and let's assure that women and children have the support they need to escape domestic violence and lead healthy lives.
