BENEFITING: YWCA Evanston/North Shore
ORGANIZER: YWCA Evanston/North Shore
This month, I'm participating in a simple 10x10 campaign. I'm asking at least 10 friends to donate $10 to support the YWCA Evanston/North Shore with their Purple Purse Campaign- the goal of which is to raise awareness and money to end domestic violence and financial abuse. We all likely know someone affected by domestic abuse. Statistics show that 1 in 4 women will be affected by domestic violence in their lifetime- more than breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and lung cancer combined!
YWCA Evanston/North Shore is the only comprehensive residential domestic violence service provider in the northeastern Chicago metropolitan area. Focusing on immediate responses and long-term solutions to domestic violence, services are multi-faceted and each fills a critical need in helping women break free from violence, heal and go on to lead self- sufficient lives. Reaching over 800 women and children annually, services include:
- crisis intervention
- emergency shelter for women and their children
- community-based counseling
- long-term supportive housing for survivors
- legal advocacy
- medical advocacy
- financial literacy education
- relationship violence prevention
- batterer intervention program
Access to services, counseling, and legal advocacy make a real difference in survivors’ ability to safely break free from violence, heal from abuse and lead self-sufficient lives. For survivors in our 16-community catchment area, the services provided by YWCA Evanston/ North Shore are critical.
Your gift in any amount will make a difference. Thank you!
