"When I say SURVIVOR, I mean survivor on many different levels...the first blow hit me...right in the stomach. Then my ribs, then my arms…he hit me everywhere on my body except my face. I couldn’t breath and I couldn’t fight. I just knew that was my end. I was stuck…but GOD had a different plan for me. Back then, I didn’t know about agencies here that could help me in my situation. This is the reason that I joined the YWCA. I want my story to be the voice of the those who didn’t survive. I want to help as many as I can to get whatever help they need to get out of that dangerous situation." - Acacia, Survivor
YWCA has long advocated for the health and safety of women and girls. Being a part of the largest network of domestic violence service providers in the country, YWCA Nevada will remain committed to reducing violence against women and girls while advocating financial independence. In 2015, domestic violence-related incidents claimed 43 lives in Nevada, as documented in publically accessible police reports and published news stories. On average, YWCA Nevada receives approximately 5 calls a month from victims looking for HELP with escaping a violent situation. With help from community partners and donations, YWCA Nevada will provide supportive services to victims of domestic violence and continue to educate on financial independence.
Help YWCA Nevada raise the most funds and win up to a $100,000 in donations to support.
