Please give now and help YWCA Glendale provide safety and well-being to those that need to become #FreeToWalk.
Did you know that financial abuse is just as effective in controlling a victim as a lock and key? Most people think only of physical abuse when they consider domestic violence, yet financial abuse happens in 98% of all domestic violence cases. The number one reason domestic violence survivors stay or return to an abusive relationship is that they don’t have the financial resources to break free. Physical abuse leaves bruises and scars. Financial abuse is an invisible weapon that traps victims in abusive relationships.
Fortunately, with help from the YWCA Glendale, women across Los Angeles County can find safe housing for themselves and their children, take back financial control, and rebuild their lives.
But we can’t do it alone. Join us for Allstate Foundation’s Purple Purse Challenge as we raise donations to help more victims become survivors. If we raise the most funds by October 25th, 2016, YWCA Glendale will win $100,000 to help us provide safety for survivors.
YWCA Glendale is raising funds to support our Domestic Violence Program, which offers:
A crisis hotline serving an area of 1.1 million people offering counseling, community referral and access to shelter services.
A Domestic Violence Service Center that offers counseling, resources, referrals and childcare. The Legal Department represents women in family courts and immigration matters.
The Sunrise Village Emergency Shelter Program provides a 45-day safe-haven for women and children. Services include meals, housing, counseling and social services; a children’s counseling program, legal advocacy, case management, housing assistance, employment, education, healthcare and childcare.
Programs for children who witness domestic violence.
Our Educational Outreach, which provides community education about prevention, bullying, parenting, and child abuse.
