Domestic Violence is an epidemic that continues to affect us all. We can no longer continue to see this issue as a private issue and ignore the crime that it is, which is to violate someone’s basic human rights. Victims of domestic violence need our help, they need your help. We need to provide opportunities for victims to heal and grow so that they can lead safer and independent lives.
If you think domestic violence has nothing to do with you, you are mistaken. Violence in the home finds its way into our communities. By supporting our cause you support not only those who suffer from the direct effects but those who suffer indirectly. There is a connection between domestic violence and gang violence, drug abuse, alcoholism, homelessness and more. Healthy families create a safer community.
Support me in my efforts to continuing to support the YWCA of Glendale’s Domestic Violence Program (DVP). Started in 1979, the DVP’s primary focus is to empower victims of domestic violence by providing assistance to achieve independence, self-sufficiency and a life free from violence. The DVP provides: A 24-Hour Domestic Violence Hotline; a 24-hour Emergency Shelter; Domestic Violence Services Center; Legal Services; Children’s Programs; Educational & Outreach and Domestic Violence Training and Certification. If you know someone or want further information please contact our 24-hr Domestic Violence Hotline (888) 999-7511.
