Many of you know my son Zach has hemophilia. Many of you also know that this condition has not impacted his ability to live life to the fullest. Zach has the benefit of being surrounded by a wonderful group of loving, caring and supporting family, friends and caregivers. We also are blessed with having health insurance that supports him in living a normal, active lifestyle. This is not always the case for families and individuals living with Zach's condition. The Bleeding Disorders Alliance Illinois (BDAI, f/k/a Hemophilia Foundation of Illiois) is an organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for persons affected by hemophilia and other inherited bleeding disorders, as well as the complications of these disorders or their treatment.
I had the luck of "winning" a lottery position for this year's Chicago Marathon and as a result, I wanted to share that luck. As such, this year I will be running on behalf of Zach Attack: Zach's philanthropic group that has been put together in the past to support charity walks. All the money Zach Attack raises in conjunction with this marathon will be donated to BDAI upon successfully crossing the finish line on Sunday, October 13, 2013! My time in last year's Chicago marathon was 5:03:24. This year my goal is to beat that and hit 4:45:00 - which would also be a personal record. Help me reach my goal! Thanks in advance for your help!
