BENEFITING: MEET INTERNATIONAL INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 24, 2014
This summer we all witnessed a dark time in the Middle East. Over 2,000 Palestinians killed, 4,000 rockets shot into Israel… and a growing hopelessness and lack of leadership sapping our resolve. Against all odds, hundreds of Israelis and Palestinians broke through barriers to come together to take constructive action. They are the young leaders you see in these pictures.
Together at MEET, they overcame racism, fear and isolation to create technology and entrepreneurship projects designed to positively impact their communities. Now, more than ever, it is time to support their education and collaboration. MIT, Google and more are already on board - join us!
Why I'm asking for your support
I am currently a board member of MEET and served as the CEO for two years from 2010-2012. In the face of the violence and pain that has come to define the region, I witnessed first-hand over and over again how MEET defeats hate with hope and delivers pragmatic, practical solutions for a more peaceful and just future.

Recently mentioned by President Obama as "an example of how innovation is reshaping the Middle East," MEET is an innovative educational program which is bringing together the next generation of Israeli and Palestinian young leaders to take action towards creating positive social and political change in their communities. At MEET, teams of high school students from Israel and Palestine work together in an intensive 3 year education program. They learn to code from MIT instructors, they build real-world projects and products and pitch them to real world entrepreurs.
The campaign: $2 for every $1 you contribute
We have an unique opportnity to turn $5,000 into $15,000 for MEET. Two of our friends and long-time MEET champions have generously agreed to match your gifts 1:1 up to $5,000. Kathleen and I are also going to contribute a total of $5,000. If we all pull this off, we will 2X the individual impact of each gift for MEET.
The donations will enable critical improvements and growth within MEET’s technology, entrepreneurship and leadership educational programs next year. In 2015, an estimated 250 Palestinians and Israelis and 20 MIT volunteer instructors will participate in our programs in Jerusalem and Nazareth.
Students are 15-17 years old, and our alumni are in their early to mid 20s; they are half Israeli, half Palestinian and half boys, half girls. The students absolutely love MEET and they work hard to get in - only 7% of all applicants are accepted to MEET, and 75% of alumni stay involved!
MEET has earned a reputation of integrity, excellence, and pragmaticism from backers like MIT, Google, HP-Indigo and more. They have already built a bi-national network of 380 Palestinian and Israeli future leaders who have launched 50 projects tackling real issues. Projects take on media bias, bi-national tourism, and more. From leadership to staff to students, MEET has equal representation by nationality and gender.
