BENEFITING: Sanctuary for Families
EVENT DATE: May 01, 2016
Hello everyone, As most of you know, I've worked with Sanctuary for Families, New York City's leading agency dedicated to ending domestic violence and sex trafficking, for over a decade. Sanctuary's counselors, attorneys, employment specialists, and case managers worked tirelessly to help more than 15,000 adult survivors and children achieve safety, stability and freedom from violence last year. They save lives, and they transform lives -- from helping families find immediate, confidential shelter from dangerous abusers; to helping immigrant clients avoid deportation to home countries where they risk violence or death; to providing job training that leads to careers rather than dead-end low wage jobs. One thing that defines Sanctuary for me is that its staff and volunteers take even the toughest cases -- representing abuse survivors in asylum cases that every other legal provider has turned down; providing job training and placement to clients with the lowest literacy levels. If not for Sanctuary, many of our clients would have nowhere to turn. This Sunday, I'm taking action to help them do their work by biking with Sanctuary's team in the 5 Boro Bike Tour. If you can support me with a contribution of $25, 50, 100 (or hey -- why not $250?), I would be so appreciative. Contributions of any size will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your support!
