BENEFITING: ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer
ORGANIZER: ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2016
Friends & Fam,
Some of you may know me as a raging feminist, one prone to bouts of frenzied discussions regarding The Glass Ceiling, microaggressions, and the pitfalls of modern chivalry (jk, buy my dinner).
What many of you may NOT know as readily is just how fiercely I love the men in my life. As such, I'm using this opportunity while training for the New York City Half Marathon to raise some $$$ for a cause near and dear to me and mine: ending prostate cancer for good.
Over the past several decades, the prevention, detection, and treatments surrounding prostate cancer have improved exponentially. Unfortunately, we're not quite out of the woods yet.
Fact: One in seven American men will have prostate cancer during his lifetime.
Fact: Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among American men.
Fact: Catching prostate cancer at an early stage greatly improves the chances of remission and also helps prevent the cancer from progressing to Stages III and IV, the point at which this disease starts to affect day-to-day living.
Every dollar donated is a dollar towards ending prostate cancer. And ending prostate cancer means more birthdays, vacations, and holidays with all of your favorite men. That's something even a Women's Lit. buff can get behind.
PS...if donating $$$ isn't your thing, donate your time/sleep and come cheer for all of the runners! On Sunday, March 20, the race begins at 7:30am in Central Park, winds down along the West Side Highway, and ends on Wall St.
