BENEFITING: ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer
ORGANIZER: ZERO - The End of Prostate Cancer
EVENT DATE: Mar 20, 2016
I have run four half marathon so far, yay running?! But for my next, I wanted to run one that held a deeper meaning and would have a positive impact on the world (one of my resolutions this year).
Prostate Cancer has unfortunately personally touched my life. My dad has been fighting it for several years, as well as my uncle and another family member. I think my dad's pretty incredible (see photographic proof at left), so I want to do something incredible to support him and all the men fighting.
One out of every 7 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, so chances are you probably know someone fighting too. Prostates aren't the sexiest topic, and maybe someday we won't have to talk about them at all. Please consider helping us to end Prostate cancer by donating & supporting me as I run the NYC Half Marathon!
Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of male cancer death, killing a man every 18 minutes. Yet, there is hope: 99 percent survive when it's caught early.
Proceeds raised by the ZERO Prostate Cancer Endurance Team will support ZERO —The End of Prostate Cancer and its mission to end prostate cancer through awareness, outreach, advocacy and research.
The NYC Half boasts an on-street experience like no other and takes runners from around the city and the globe on a 13.1-mile tour of NYC. Each year, more than 15,000 athletes take the challenge and participate in this exciting event. Led by a talent-packed roster of American and international elites, runners will stop traffic in Manhattan, from Central Park through Times Square to the South Street Seaport!
