BENEFITING: BORGEN PROJECT
I am a supporter of the Borgen Project because I believe that constituents can really make a difference. We must make foreign aid and the alleviation of global poverty a priority. Less than one percent of the US federal budget actually goes towards foreign aid. This is a significantly less portion of the budget than what the general population believes the United States contributes to foreign aid. The Borgen Project has volunteers from all over the country trying to spread awareness and engage their legislators to make a change in the way the United States approaches foreign aid spending. Constituents really are able to make a difference. Our elected representatives are meant to represent the views of the people who live in their constituency. If everyone becomes engaged on the topic of global poverty, our legislators have to listen. The Borgen Project is an important ally in alleviating poverty world wide--a task that is easier than one would think. Any funds that are donated will help me, and the rest of the Borgen Project volunteers, to continue making a meaningful impact on the fight to end global poverty.
